Integrating Fisheries Information into Restoration Planning, Design, and Effectiveness Monitoring at the Reach and Watershed Scales
River restoration in the Pacific Northwest is fueled largely by the goal of recovering imperiled salmon and steelhead populations. Yet, in many cases, there still remains a disconnect between what the fish need and what is implemented. This session will explore the use of fisheries information in restoration planning and design. The session will begin with an overview talk providing background information and describing the various types of techniques that are typically applied. The individual talks will focus on watershed-scale approaches as well as reach and site-scale approaches. The talks will be framed on three key topics: 1) analysis techniques, 2) integrating fish data into restoration planning and design, and 3) evaluating effectiveness of actions.
