Symposium Information 2024

2024 River Restoration Symposium:

February 5th - 9th

Short Courses on Monday February 5th
Field Trip on Friday February 9th

WELCOME!

We are happy to announce the 22nd annual River Restoration Northwest Symposium!

Each year RRNW hosts researchers, scientists and field professionals from the Pacific Northwest and beyond to share knowledge and collaborate on the latest in River Restoration practices and research. This unique event seeks to share knowledge across disciplines and takes a holistic approach to river restoration at a one of a kind location with breathtaking views of the Columbia Gorge. Networking is a key component of the symposium with participants having plenty of time to collaborate and be inspired.

We greatly appreciate RRNW’s amazing sponsors for their ongoing support which helps keep event registration costs affordable. Finally, we encourage everyone to spread the word about taking advantage of RRNW’s Student Internship and Klingeman Professional Stipend Fund programs offered to help cover Symposium registration costs.

Thank you for your interest in the 2024 Symposium; however, the symposium sold in early December and our waitlist is full as well. We’re sorry we cannot accommodate any other registrants this year but hope that you will be able to attend in 2025. No walk-in registrants will be accepted.

You can still sign up for short courses!

WELCOME!

A Heartfelt Thanks and Symposium Update

As we begin 2024, we hope this message finds you well and filled with the same energy and enthusiasm we've received from all of you following our recent registration opening for the Symposium. The interest and support increased substantially this year! This year's Symposium sold out earlier than ever, surpassing our previous sellout date by several weeks. While this achievement is a testament to the growing interest and engagement within our community, we're also aware of the challenges it has posed for some members, particularly those in government or organizations with necessary approval processes.

Our Symposium team and the board have been diligently working to address these challenges, trying to ensure everyone who wishes to have access to Symposium information has the opportunity to do so. We recognize the importance of inclusivity and transparency in our processes, and we're committed to learning from this experience to enhance and improve the registration process for next year. As we navigate this increased interest, we want to remind you that presentation slides from the Symposium will be posted on our website after the event. While it may not be the same as being there in person, it's hopefully the next best thing. We encourage you to explore the materials, reach out to presenters with your thoughts and questions, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue that enriches our community of practice.

Once again, thank you for your unwavering support and enthusiasm. Together, we continue to learn, grow, and make a positive impact on our shared mission.

There are also over 70 waterfalls nearby, including the famous Multnomah Falls, which at 620 feet, is the fifth highest waterfall in the United States. 45 minutes from Portland, the lodge offers 258 guest rooms, a 22,000 square foot conference and event center, an 18-hole, par 70 golf course, spa and fitness center. The fitness center includes two Peloton bikes, top of the line Precor fitness equipment, an indoor heated swimming pool, dry saunas and indoor and outdoor whirlpools. Adjacent to the lodge is a fitness course, volleyball and hiking trails.
